Morecambe & Heysham Yacht Club is a Royal Yachting Association
recognised Training Centre.

What does RYA recognition mean?
Members are trained to R.Y.A. standards in both sailing and power boating skills.
All facilities required to teach members the basic theory and practice of sail and power are available. The club has 2 Wayfarer training dinghies (kindly sponsored by the Poulton Regeneration Management Committee), Laser dinghies for single hander advancement, an Osprey and other 2 man dinghies available for use by club members.
Mark Dexter - the club Dinghy Captain and Keith Byers the clubs Senior Dinghy Instructor are R.Y.A. Dinghy Sailing Instructors backed up by John Gibbison - professional teacher and a RYA Dinghy Instructor to level 3 & an Instructor Co-Ordinator all will ensure members are taught the necessary sailing skills to be safe on water.
A 2 day course run by the club Chief Instructor Bill Donnelly will enable trainees to achieve the R.Y.A. Level 2 Power Boat Certificate with a coastal water endorsement. This qualification is the minimum required for an International Certificate of Competence and also leads to the Safety Boat Certificate standard.
